In the 1880 Census James was listed as living in Washington Township, Paulding County, Ohio. Also, his father, Joseph, was listed as living with him. Joseph died in 1883 (3 years later) James' mother, Sarah, died in Paulding County in 1874 (probably at James' house).

MILITARY: There was a James Workman that enlisted as a Pvt. in Company K, 74th Ohio Volunteer Infantry; he was 24 on his enlistment date of January 18, 1862 and was discharged in Nashville, Tenn. on October 25, 1862 with a surgeon's certificate of disability.
