James Willson enlisted under General Pickens and Colonel Anderson during 1778 while residing in the Abbeville District, of South Carolina.
He proudly fought in the American Revolutionary War and was wounded at the Battle of the Cowpens. The Colonial Troops went on to win the battle against British forces but he and twenty four other patriots died as a result of the conflict.
