Speculative parents #1: Thomas Wharry and Martha McClelland. They are parents to Mary (Wharry) Steen, wife of Robert Steen, executor of James Wherry's will.

James, with his brother Joseph, removed from Chester Co., PA to Washington Co. PA. A patent for 383 1/2 acres of land on Pigeon Creek in Somerset Twp. was granted him. The place was called "Fair Forrest".

Caution: His will mentions a wife named Mary and a son Thomas. Neither of these are listed in the Family Bible record.

    Miss Luverna Wherry of Scenery Hill, Washington Co. PA, daughter of William Wherry and great granddaughter of James, had possession of the old family Bible (in 1904), which James purchased in 1803. She copied the following record of children from that Bible:
