James K. West was the half brother to my William Ellis West son of Jesse West & Mary Bright Rogers. James K. West was the *son* of Martha Pruit, the second wife of Jesse West. According to the biography of James K. West, page 629 of Perrin's History of Christian Co., KY, 1884, James K. West was born 24 Jun 1833 on the farm that he now resides and his father was born here in 1798, and also died on this place in 1843. He was a son of Charles West, who was born in SC [I believe this should be NC - JGW], and died in Christian Co. Subject's mother, Martha, dau. of Jacob Pruitt was born in 1803 in IL and died here in 1880. The children of this family: Henson R., John M., Amos S., William E. [all sons of Mary Bright Rogers - JGW], Susan C., Sally R. (Cooper), Charles P., Eliza S., Francis M. & James K. (twins), Jesse W., Harmon N., & Henry H. James K. West was never married; a farmer, owning 245 acres of land of fair quality, on which he cultivates wheat, corn, tobacco and clover. The place on which he resides was one among the earliest settled in the county. Mr. West is a member of the Blue Lodge, A. F. & A. M., and a member of the Christian Church.
