Acquisition of Land from Orange County, Virginia Records:
- Pages 361-66. 24-25 May 1738. Charles Stevens of St. Mark's Parish, Orange County, to James Stevens of St. Mary's Parish, Caroline County. Lease and release; for £45.6.8 sterling. 400 acres, part of pattent granted Charles Stevens 28 Sept. 1728... on the side of a hill by a small branch corner to Jno. Lightfoot, deceased... on a hill side corner to Richard Woolfolk... corner to Mr. John Stevens... north side of Cook's run and corner to said Lightrfoot... (signed) Chas. Stevens. Wit: Thos. Chew, Just Stephen Ik. Smith, John Stevens. 25 May 1738. bond of Charles Stevens of St. Mark's Parish, Orange County, to James Stevens of St. Mary's Parish, Caroline County. For £100 sterling. To keep all convenants in deeds. (signed) Chas. Stevens. Wit: Thos. Chew, Just Stephen Ik. Smith, John Stevens. 25 May 1738. Acknowledged by Charles Stevens. Co., planter, and Alice, his wife, late relict and legatee of Ambrose Gresham (Grayson?), late of Par. and county afsd., Planter, Decd., to Thomas Turner of same Par. and county, Gentl. œ35 curr. Deed of lease. The plantation whereon the sd. Ambrose dwelt and 200 a. in the par. and county afsd. Witnesses, Thomas Macredie, John Dent, George James, Richard x Turnley. Augt. 4, 1752.
