JAMES first settled in Tolland, and moved to Ellington in 1776; after the Revolution, went to Brookfield, Vt., to reside with his son Zadoc, and died about 1813. This James had been in the war of 1755, and received a lieutenant's commission, but was prevented by sickness from serving. His son James was one of the company that went from Tolland to the siege of Boston, instantly on the breaking out of hostilities, and the next year was in the battle of Long Island. AARON, another son, perished in the army in New Jersey. A third (SAMUEL), and a fourth, whose name has been forgotten, were also in the army. ZADOC, after some service, emigrated to Brookfield, Vt., when in Oct. 1781, he was taken by the party of Indians that burnt Royalton.Citation needed
