James Alexander Semple married Elizabeth Shannon, of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, in 1822, and moved to Iowa, where he died, August 19, 1842, aged forty-four years and seven months. Issue:

5. David Semple;
6. Samuel Semple;
7. Elizabeth Semple;
8. James Semple;
9. Tyler Semple.
This family is scattered over Iowa, Oregon, and California, and the writer has not been able to obtain materials for a complete record.
