BURIAL

Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, USA
Born in North Carolina circa 1783 the son of John and Mary Robinson, James traveled to Edwardsville, Illinois Territory, ca. 1809, with his parents and siblings, the family establishing the "Robinson Farm' which became part of "Upper Edwardsville." (Springer family history, by Jessie Evelyn Spring, 1959, p 316)
In 1817 James was appointed Madison County Coroner and elected to that position in 1818. Probably coroner at the time of his death, 11 August 1822, he died intestate. With only a few probate images here, the entirety may be viewed at Ancestry listing creditors, an inventory of appraisers of the goods and chattels, and more. The papers provide a sketch of the man suggesting that he was married, his wife was Martha, and the couple had a child or children. An interesting entry exists: Two dollars are "due to Miss Hastings for her schooling account." Perhaps James Robinson had a son, or other children, attending Miss Hastings' school.
