Pratt, James, born 3/25/1764 in Culpeper County, Virginia, son of Thomas; entered service as substitute for father in 1781 there in Virginia regiment; resided after Revolutionary War in Campbell County, Virginia, for abt. 4 years, thence in Bath County, Virginia, for abt. 2 years, thence in Floyd County, Kentucky, thence abt. 1829 in Lawrence County, Kentucky, where granted Pension in 1833; died 10/8/1854; married 7/1/1827 to Rebecca Rite [Wright], Floyd County, Kentucky; widow granted Pension age 64 in Carter County, Kentucky, 1856; children mentioned but not named resided 1860 in Johnson County, Kentucky; Balus Rite (no kinship given) made affidavit there in 1859; widow resided 1869 in Carter County, Kentucky, when granted Pension increase there.
