  15. J.J. Phillips Dies Suddenly of Apoplexy

James J. Phillips, for several years a resident of this city, aged 61 years, died suddenly yesterday morning from apoplexy, at his home, 1008 Union street. Mr. Phillips had been on the streets Sunday and attended the stump blowing contest at Cloverfield farm Saturday afternoon. Monday morning, feeling indisposed, he did not arise at the usual time, and soon afterwards suffered the strooke that brought death within 30 minutes. Medical assistance was summoned but nothing could be done for the patient. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife and daughter, Miss Edith Phillips. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2:30 at Marx & Sons chapel. Interment Odd Fellows' cemetery. Rev. Mr. Hopkins of Tumwater will officiate.
