He attended school in Trimble County, Ky. and the Spencerian BusinessCollege, Louisville, Ky. He was a member of the Hickory GroveMethodist Church.

He worked for Sauerston and Brown, candy makers, for 50 years as atraveling salesman. He retired in 1940.

As a traveling salesman, he joined the United Commercial Travelers andserved as Grand Councilor. He had wide connections all over Kentucky.

He served for many years as a member of the Board of Trustees of theLaGrange Graded School and was its president. He was a member when thepresent High School building was erected.

He was a Mason and had received the Order of the Temple (KnightTemplar).
