Both the 1830 and 1840 census record of James McTucker indicate there was a fourth son. It could be that both the first wife and the second wife of the original James McTucker named a son after their husband. McTucker, 45, male, white, farmer, owns real estate worth $6700 and personal property worth $2600, born in Ohio Matilda, 40, female, white, keeps house, born in Ohio, US citizen eligible to vote Alana McTucker, 16, female, white, born in California, attended school during the year Nathaniel was not married until 1868.
