Mark, Thank you for the information about my many times removed cousin, Dr John Washington Lockhart and his book. He missed one son from his list of his and my ancestor, James Lockhart of Johnston County, NC. This was JOEL Lockhart, a son by James' first wife Susanne Dupuy. John,James, Joel and Bruttain (Lockett),Lockhart were their children before she died and James married Hannah Hawkins Smith. James Lockhart of Johnston County died in 1800. This was the date his will was probated in Johnston County, NC. My list is taken from a copy I have of James' original will. Both James Lockhart,Jr. and his brother Joel Lockhart served in the Revolution. The younger boys were not old enough. Over the last fifty and more years I have accumulated many records which I had not referred to in years until I went on line a few months ago. My records ahow that the first four sons of James Lockhart of Amelia Co., VA and Johnston Co. NC moved south after the Rev. I have records of them through correspondence.

One item I should perhaps mention is that the Elam Lockhart who moved to Marengo County, AL was a son of Stephen Lockhart and a nephew of Elam Lockhart who died in Johnston County, NC.

Incidentally, I have a copy of James Lockhart,Jr's account of his Rev. service and some records of his brother, Joel's service.
