Manakin Town was created in 1700 on the James River in Virginia, near present-day Richmond.

From about 400 original French Huguenot settlers, the town had fewer than 150 by 1705 as the newcomers went to live on their farms instead of the town and as their children became assimilated into the English culture. By 1750 the town no longer existed.
