1 CEME Lot SW 1220, Lakeview Cem., Seattle, WA Colonel Langley commanded the 125th Illinois Volunteer Regiment after the commander was killed at Kennesaw Mountain, GA. Turned down a brevet commision to Brig. General. Later was Superior Court judge in King County WA; invested in land on Whidbey Island (town of Langley named in his honor). The South Whidbey Historical Society has a wicker chair belonging to JW Langley in their museum. His obituary (on file at Lakeview Cemetary) reads as follows: Apr 23, 1915 LANGLEY--At the family residence, 1100 Nineteenth Avenue, April 22,1915, James Weston Langley, aged 79 years. Member of John F Miller Post, G. A. R., and Ionic Lodge, No. 90, F. and A. M. Funeral services will be held at the parlors of Bonney-Watson Company, Broadway at Olive street, opposite Broadway high school, today (Saturday) at 3:30 p.m., under the auspices of John F. Miller Post, G. A. R. Members of above societies and friends are invited to attend. Interment at Lake View cemetery. (Lot SW 1220) |
