James Hogg and his wife are buried at the mouth of Kings Creek. M. Elizabeth Kelly in Culpeper County, Virginia about 1800 and moved to North Carolina and to Letcher County prior to 1809. He owned several hundred acres of land in the Roxana area. The Letcher County records indicate he deeded his four sons 1200 acres of land in October 1857. Elizabeth died January 29, 1844. After she died James made a trip to Virginia and brought home with him another Elizabeth Hogg and the Letcher County marriage record shows "Elizabeth Hogg married James Hogg December 4, 1849 by John Caudill, minister." She was born in Virginia about 1800 and died before 1860. The 1860 census record lists James 83 years of age and living with his son Kelly Hogg. I have no record of the Hogg family to which she is related.
