The name of Temp's wife is not known, nor is his place of death. HerbertHarris writes: "By his first wife, Uncle had two daughters, Erville and Estelle, bot ofwhom graduated from Oskaloosa College and both of whom died of T. B.Erville won the state oratorixal contest, was an artist, and her ownpicture hung for many years in the college auditorium. His second wifewas more earthy in nature, and their two children did not go fareducationally, tho' May was bright. ...the last I knew of (meaning second wife), they had sold Iowa holdingsand gone out to Washington, following the lure of the West that hadalways been upon my father and Uncle. He had one word that stood out forswearing and other emphasis and he used it preparing for this lastemigration: 'Hellix, it ought to be good and westy out in Washington.' " It is thought the second child by the second marriage may be Walter.Research is still being done on that. Dr. Harris did have a cousin namedWalter Harris who attended grammar school with him. |
