James (Farquhar) GRAY FARQUHAR born possibly 1778 at Gilmilnscroft (latter day saints) and or christened 26 oct1778 Balfron, Stirlingshire, and New Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire (latter day saints). On the birth record of James Gray the parents were John Farquhar Gray and Jean Farquar. James was a Lt. Col. of Ayrshire Militia. In 1827 he was a juror in Ayrshire. He died in 1828. James married Margaret BAILLIE ( „Genealogical account of the principal families of Ayrshire“ by George Robertson,1824) or in 1801 Margaret Cochrane BAILLIE (b. abt. 1780 at Gilmilnscroft) (latter day saints). Margaret was daughter of Major James BAILLIE by Margaret ROSS, eldest daughter of Lord Anchorville, a Senator of the College of Justice, by whom he had the children John, Margaret and Jane. Major Baillie was of the 7th or Royal Fuzileers and Fort Major of Fort George ( „Genealogical account of the principal families of Ayrshire“ by George Robertson,1824).
