    James Gilchrist; Born probably prior to 1765 in York County, Pennsylvania. Married Elizabeth, daughter of Patrick Scott. Elizabeth was born in York County, Pennsylvania, May 2d, 1765. James, at an advanced age, was killed by a runaway accident. They were members of the Presbyterian church, as indicated by an old church letter sent me by one of their descendants."
