    On the 1860 Federal Census James and his  siblings are listed in the home of Silas Richardson, a mulatto living near Amos and Sarah.  Silas's family is listed with Jesse's parents. Why they are listed with Silas is unknown.

"Dugger, James Martin, born 2 December 1849 at Lynn Camp, Knox Co., KY. to Daniel and Mary Dugger, died 26 September 1926 at Mazie, Mayes Co., OK married on 19 September 1872 at Greene Co., IN, Carolina Eliza Wells who was born 20 April 1847 at Greene Co., IN to James and Sarah Janes (Walker) Wells and died 24 April 1935 at Dalhart, TX. immigrated into Indiana from Knox Co., KY. in 1861; lived in Greene and Park cos, IN; emigrated from Indiana to Rosalie, Butler Co., KS in 1875. 

    Children:   Mary, Robert, Charles, Leander, Eudous "Dick", Pearl, Chester, Lou Alice, William, Harvey "Steve", George "Sam", Albert.
