THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR - August 10, 1923 Funeral services for James R. Down, 30 years old, 4135 Boulevard place, who died Wednesday at the Methodist hospital, will be held at 3:15 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. It will be a Masonic funeral with services at both the home and at the cemetery. It was announced that a firing squad would be provided from Fort Benjamin Harrison to officiate at the grave. Mr. Down was a captain in the Reserve corps, besides having been a lieutenant in the quartermasters corp during the war when he served twenty-three months overseas..

Mr. Down was born in Utica, N.Y. and lived in Indianapolis for eighteen years. Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Down; his widow, Mrs. Coral M. Down, and Barbara, a 3 weeks old daughter.
