Killed at the battle of North Point in the defense of Baltimore in the War of 1812

Roster of the General Society of War of 1812 - pg 103, 215 and 363: James Lowry Donaldson, Monaghan, Ireland 3 April 1776 married in Baltimore 3 June 1794 Mary Purviance Cox (b. 27 Jun 1776, Baltimore; d. 1 Feb 1803, Baltimore); he died 12 Sep 1814 North Point, MD. Adj. Gen. James Lowry Donaldson, 27th Md. Regt. led an attack on an advanced British troop near the present Battle Acre. He was killed in battle, and his body was found covered with the flag of the 27th Regt. as a sign of respect from the enemy.

Page 170 - Twenty-seventh Regiment Infantry Killed - James L. Donaldson, Adjutant, 8 privates. Page 269 - Donaldson, James Lowrie. Lieutenant and Adjutant in 27th rgt. Killed at North Point.

Maryland Settlers & Soldiers, 1700s-1800s - Marriages & Deaths from Baltimore Newspapers, Surnames, C-D, Page 92 - Donaldson, James Lowrey and Miss Jane Stewart, dau. of Dr. Wm. Stewart, all of Balto., were married last eve. by Rev. Glendy (BFG, 6 July 1804). Donaldson, James Lowrey, was killed in the late action near North Point, 12 inst., a native of Ireland. He had lived in this country since he was 11 years old. He was the 3rd son of Col. William Lowry of Balto., but changed his name to comply with the wishes of a relative. A delegate to the General Assembly, he leaves a widow and 5 small children. He was Adjutant to the 27th Regt. (BFG, 24 Sep 1814)
