James B. Clow was a well known singer and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA. DAR lineage was proved to him. His estate notice says James B. and Robert C. Clow were administrators 22 Oct 1796. He is said to have been a War of 1812 Vet. James B. Clow, plasterer, corner of Cherry Alley and 7th Street (Pittsburgh Directory 1815, Janes M. Riddle, Dusquesne Smelting Co, 1940, p18) 1826 he was a clerk for business on Smithfield and Cherry in Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh in 1826 Sketches together w/directory of city, S. Jones, Johnson & Stockton, 1826, p11) Between 1797-1799 James was secretary of Mechanical Society of Pittsburgh and a plasterer involved in the Allegheny Courthouse and offices; 20 Feb 1801 he was the treasurer of Allegheny Co; on 3 Apr 1801 to let small but convenient 2-story brick house and kitchen, now in tenure of Rev Mr. Steel, Pittsburgh Academy, apply James B. Clow, Pittsburgh, 31 Mar 1801; 1 Jan 1802 he signed a petition to have court appoint judge in Allegheny Co (Pittsburgh Gazette Abstracts 1797-1803, Clara E. Duer, 1986) 1810 James B.
