Served in the 100th PA Voluntary Infantry during Civil War. A James Byers “probably kept the first hotel in Pulaski Village in the building at the northwest corner of Union Street and the Mercer road.” (Could this be the same one?)

Tombstone says he served as a Private in Company B in the 100th Rg. Pa. Vol. 1861-1865.
