Estate record filed on 8 March 1775 at a Court of Probate held in Danbury, CT, Lydia Baldwin, Abel Baldwin, Rebeckah Hull and Eliphalet (Elipht) Hull signs & seals to the foregoing agreement for probation (exhibited the same) and before said court acknowledged the same to be their free act and deed, the same being proved is by said court approved and ordered to be recorded.

In the settlement of his estate, his daughter, Rebekah Hull and her husband, Eliphalet, are named as well as his widow, Lydia, and son, Abel. The following is a transcription of the agreement, as best as I can determine:

To Whom Concerned Greeting Know ye, That whereas our hond (honored?) Father, James Baldwin, late of Newtown, Fairfield County, deceased, died without having disposed of his Estate by will or Testament & left to be divided & distributed to and among Lydia Baldwin, his widow & relict & between Abel Baldwin, the eldest & only son & Rebeckah the wife of Eliphalet Hull, Sundry pieces of Land, Buildings &c, as hereafter mentioned, exclusive his moveable estate (which we the above widow and heirs have divided to our full satisfaction.) We have for our selves & heirs divided & do by these presents divide said Real Estate in manner following (viz)

It is mutually agreed that Lydia widow & relect to said deceased have & hold during her natural life as right of dower, the peaceful use & improvement of the following part of the Buildings & Land Viz, the one half of dwelling house which is that which said deceased died seized of, the west half of the half of the Barn with egress & regress & the use of Half the barn yard which was not given to said Abel, also the one half of Lowly (Towsy?) Lot lying on the west side containing 3 acres, the meadows lot by Capt. Botsford, 2 Acres 2 Ronds 36 Rd, the home wood lot being part of the homelot 2 acres, the Johnson Lot 9 a 3 Rowd(?) 25 Rd, the Seely lot exclusive the widow Wheelers right of Dower the north side containing 5 a 2 Rd 1 Rd & a small part in the cider mill eight shillings & five pence worth, which in the whole is Estimated at two hundred twenty eight (228) pounds three pence & one farthing, which is the whole of the said Lydia Right of Dower in the Real Estate.

It is mutually agreed that Abel have for his part or double portion the following pieces of Land Viz the twenty acre lot so called containing 10 a 9 Rnd 29 rd, little (Cattle?) twenty acre lot 1 a 0 Rd 0 Rd Woodlot by Lemuel Camps 5 acres 0 Rnd 0 Rd Spring lot 1 acres 1 Rnd 0 Rd & 1/2 home meadow & plow lot 3 a 0 Rnd 0 Rd Foot Fabrique & Rent lot containing 20 acres 3 Rond 18 Rd Estimated at three hundred four (304) pounds four pence halfpenny lawfull money, which is the whole of his double part in the real estate of said James died seized of except the widows dower, with which said Abel is content.

It is also agreed that Rebeckah the wife of Eliphalet Hull shall have for her part the Taunton lot so called containing 32 acre 1 Rnd 30 Rd & Jeps (?) lot so called which contains 8 ac 3 Rnd 5 Rd all Estimated at one hundred fifty two (152) pounds, two pence 1/4 Limer (?) with which she is content.

(The remainder of the Land inventoried in the inventory taken of the Estate of said James deceased, being under the incumbrance of the Widow Wheeler's Dower, remain unconveyed)

now, whereas the above division of the real estate is by us mutually made & to our full satisfaction we the said Lydia widow & relict of said deceased & Abel only son, & Rebeckah wife to said Hull, said Eliphalet Hull as co-partner with his wife Rebeckah do remise & release severally the several rights set of(off?) as above & by these presents do bind ourselves & our heirs forever to abide the same according to the true intent & meaning thereof. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals this 13th day of January AD 1775 & in the 15th of George the 3rd his Reign.
