    Marriage to Orpha Blackford on May 19, 1889 in Perry County, Ohio. They had one daughter, Nellie May. It appears the couple was not together long, or were on and off. On the 1900 census, I believe James was in Saginaw (single; boarder). The family was together in Beaverton, Gladwin County in 1910. By September 24, 1914, Orpha filed for divorce, claiming “Desertion”. 14 months earlier, on July 25, 1913, James married Roseanna (Graham) Smallwood in Hocking County, Ohio. The divorce Orpha filed was never finalized, and James would die a bigamist on July 19, 1915 in Hocking County, Ohio.
