    FUNERAL NOTICES: AMOS, James Melvin Sr., 48, of 116 South Pine Str., Ellsworth, died May 17, 1968, at 3:40 p.m. in Washington Hospital. Surviving are his widow, Blanche Marie Iams Amos; six children, James M. Jr., Westmoreland, England; Charles Clarence Amos, Washington; Richard Allen Amos, Washington; Richard Allen Amos, Washington; Deborah Sue, Audrey Marie and Lloyd Kenneth, all at home; three step-children, Robert Barker, at home; Mary Lou Doris, and Raymond Doris, both of Detroit Mich.; two brothers, Hamilton Nelson Amos and Louis Kenneth Amos, both of Bentleyville and three grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main St., Bentleyville, after 7 p.m., May 20. Services will be held Tuesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home, with the Rev. Ray F. Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Beallsville Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville, Greenlee Funeral Home, funeral directors.

    James Melvin Amos Sr., 48, of 116 South Pine Street, Ellsworth, died at 3:40 p.m. Friday, May 17, 1968, in Washington Hospital, after an illness of one year.
    Mr. Amos was born November 17, 1919, at Bentleyville, a son of Albert and Hazel Crumrine Amos. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was employed at Bethlehem Mines, Ellsworth, and as a bus driver for the Beth-Center School District.
    He was a member of American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville, and UMWA Local 1190, Ellsworth.
    Surviving are his wife, Blanche Marie Iams Amos; six children, James M. Jr., Westmoreland, England; Charles Clarence Amos, Washington; Richard Allen Amos, Washington; Deborah Sue; Audrey Marie and Lloyd Kenneth, all at home; three stepchildren, Robert Barker, at home; Miss Mary Lou Doris and Raymond Doris, both of Detroit, Mich; two brothers, Hamilton Nelson Amos and Louis Kenneth Amos, both of Bentleyville, and three grandchildren. One daughter, Cheryl Leah, died in 1954.
