Jackie was born in Minden, Louisiana on October 27, 1917. Her father was in the oil business. Jackie would often tell how they had moved to Midland, Texas in it's boom days and more people lived in tents than in houses. Her father, Richard Casey, built the Jacqueline apartments in Shreveport, Louisiana and named them after his daughter. He died when she was only 10 years old. Her mother moved the family to New Orleans, Louisiana where she met and married Godfrey Homes. They had 3 children: Jeff, Rich and Jackie. The marriage didn't last. Godfrey left and joined the Navy while Jackie was left to raise the three kids. Fortunately she soon met Martin Polder and they were soon married. The family moved to Bremerton, Washington during the war. Afterward they moved again to Cleveland, Ohio.

Marty and Jackie bought the Crescent Hotel on Put-in-Bay Island on Lake Erie in Ohio which they owned through the 60's. In the late sixties they sold the Crescent and bought the Laurel Motel in Lake Wales, Florida. After Marty died, Jackie remarried Earl Goreck. The couple spent their final years in Port Charlotte, Florida.
