Godfrey "Jeff" Homes was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 14, 1937. He was the oldest child of Godfrey Homes Sr. and Jacqueline Casey. Jeff's father left the family, but Jackie soon met and married Marty Polder. The family moved to Olmstead Falls, Ohio. Jeff was a pretty good athlete, but not much of a student. He married the first time at only 17, and had three daughters. The marriage didn't last long. He remarried in 1961 and this time had two sons.

Jeff's first career was as an electrician. He gave this up when he found he could make more money selling homes. Not content to work for someone else he tried his hand at greenhouse farming, invalid equipment, and motel ownership before settling on insurance. He established the Golden Eagle Company in Lakeland, Florida. Jeff suffered a stroke at the age of 49 from which he never really recovered. He died of a heart attack on July 31, 1993.
