Jacob Zirot (spelling on the Ship's Passenger list) left Bremen on 9th February 1905 and arrived in Baltimore on the Karlsruhe 24 Feb. 1905. His last residence was Olritte, he had $10.00, was a shoe maker and was going to his brother Martin at 615 16th Street in Beaver Falls. I never found Martin on any other records so perhaps he and Effraim left together. On the 1900 census there is, listed living next to Julius, a Martin Jseot born 1869 with his wife Wilhelmine and daughter Olga also from Poland, Germany working as a laborer at the ax works. A Effriam Yert is listed as a border also from Poland, Germany working at the ax works. Perhaps this is Martin Zirat and Effraim they couldn’t spell the Zirat name ?
Learned the date and place of birth for Jacob from his Declaration of Intent which was filed in the Beaver Court on 2 April 1913. I think Olritte is Obrytte, a small village just NE of Pultusk. Jacob became a citizen on 22 April 1915 . On the petition his name is spelled Zirat. He is described as Fair, 5'8”, black hair , blue eyes with a stiff limb.
The 1910 census list Jacob and his family living at 1305 Fourth Ave. Beaver Falls, PA. Susanna Rock Zirat and children Rudolph, 1896, Annie, 1898 and Otto, 1902 joined Jacob in 1905. They arrived in New York on the Freiderich der Gross on October 28, 1905. Josephine was the first child born in America in 1906 followed by Lydia 1908 and Freda 1916.
On September 12 1918, Jacob and Rudoph registered for the World War I Draft. Rudolph was working for Valley Machine Company . He states he is an alien and was born in (Ausbora)?, Lomza, Russia. Jacob is operating a shoe repair shop at 804 7th Ave. In Beaver Falls.
