Jacob Teeples was born May 12, 1763 in Somerset, New Jersey.

Jacob married Herodias "Rhoda" Bentley in 1790 at the age of 27. They had eight children together--4 girls and 3 boys. Their names were Catherine, Mary, Ocey, Jacob, George Bentley, Nancy Ann, Henry Luke, and Elvira.

Jacob did not join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his lifetime. He was baptized a member by proxy at the Endowment House on September 29, 1869.
