"Jacob Skeen, minor child in 1749, m. Lydia ? and moved to Randolph Co, NC and had 12 children; Jacob d 1798. Lydia m Robert Walker and moved to Highland Co, OH, where most of her children had moved before her. James Skeen, son of Jacob and Lydia, remained in Randolph Co. Jacob and Lydia had a son Mathew, who d 1807 (will in Randolph Co). This information is added because there are so many Mathew Skeens to put in their proper place."

The following notes are from Harry Long: 3. Jacob Skeen, son of Mathew and Jane Skeen, died in North Carolina survived by his wife Lydia and 13 heirs. At his death Jacob Skeen owned in Shenandoah County 1/3 of a 301 acre tractd on Smith Creek at New Market it being the same land granted by Fairfax to Jane Skeen and sons on 21 July 1749 and 1/3 of a 214 acre tract of adjoining mountain land which had been granted by Fairfax to Mathew, Jacob and Moses Skeen on 20 June 1780. On 5 Feb 1813 (Shen Co. DB PP, p 95) nine of the 13 heirs of Jacob Skeen deceased sold to Abraham Savage their respective interest in two certain tracts of land llying on both sides of Smith Creek in Shenandoah County. The heirs of Jacob Skeen may best be described by the following quotation from their deed of conveyance to Abraham Savage: "This indenture made this fifth day of February Anno Domini 1813, between Mathew Skeen Senr. of Rowan County and State of North Carolina, James Skeen, agent and Attorney of John Skeen of Harrison County, Ind. and Territory, John Craven Esqre. Agent and Attorney of Hiram Narrowdike and Sarah his wife and for William Kensworthy and Lucretia his wife of the State of Ohio and for Lydia Walker former wife of Jacob Skeen decd.

James Skeen son of Mathew of Rowan County State of North Carolina, Revel Sofford and Jane his wife, Benjamin HOpkins and Mary his wife and James Skeen, son of Jacob, all of Randolph County and State of NOrth Carolina of one part and Abraham Savage of Shenandoah County of State of Virginia on the other part."
