From research of Bob Mitchell: "Jacob Rushing was in Stewart Co., TN before moving on to Madison Co. in the early 1820's. He was involved in a land transaction in 1832 to his son-in-law, David Baker. He was listed on the 1840 census of Madison Co., TN. "16 Jul 1842 - Hugh Jackson, Jacob Rushing, Nathan Gragg and Abram Mason cited as ALO's in grant #2205 to Abram Mason, assignee of Jacob Rushing and John Rasberry. R2-S11 Madison TN WTG #2205. Census records indicate that Jacob Rushing was born between 1760-1770. Anson Co., NC. Heirship deed indicates his wife was the former Catherine Murphy, daughter of Mark Murphy, Sr."
