144.2 Jacob(4) M. ROOT (Daniel3, Magdalene2, John1) He was born 12 Feb 1857 in Oh., the son of Daniel ROOT and Margaret Ann ZELLER. We see him on the 1870 census, age 13, with parents in Valley Twp., Polk Co. Ia.[p 107 fam #110/120] and on the 1880 census, age 23, with parents in Webster Twp., Polk Co., Ia.(Valley Twp. changed to Webster Twp.)[p 589, fam #262/266 ] He married Sarah___. She was born 1862. We are told Jacob and Sarah had two infant sons who died shortly after birth. There is a W.D. Root in the Rittgers Cemetery, with no other information. On the 1910 census, Wells St., Des Moines Twp., Dallas Co., Ia., age 53, a house carpenter. Wife Sarah is 48, and caring for the six children in the home. Jacob died 1926 and Sarah died 1944.
