He is age 8, with parents in Des Moines Twp., Pocahontas Co., Ia. on 1920 census.[ED 208, p 1A, fam #3/3] He married Jeane SCHEFFERS 1935. Jacob was a farmer and stockman and lived on the home farm in Rolfe, Pocahontas Co., Ia. In sister Hattie's obituary, 1995, it is said he is living in Rolfe , Ia. A family story reports he traveled to the area north of Rolfe in a covered wagon. Jacob is buried in Pocahontas Co., Ia. In his obituary, submitted with no banner or date, we see he died at the Pocahontas Community Hospital, Rolfe, Pocahontas Co., Ia. He was born "on the Rittgers farm north of Rolfe". After he completed his education he began farming. He and Jeane were married at the farm and continued to make their home there until 1979, when they moved into Rolfe. Jake continued to be active in farming. Jake and Jeane celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary the summer before his death. Wife Jeane, children, and "13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren."
