[George Wolley -1- 623316.ged Jacob Rapelje was the sixth child of Joris (George) Rapelje. Jacob was born March 18, 1714 and married Catherine Lott on May 16, 1740. He resided in Hellgate, New York and erected a stone house on his farm there. He was a leading man in both church and civil affairs. He was a Newtown Supervisor for 18 consecutive years, and served as an Elder in the Dutch church. At the opening of the American Revolution, though all his brothers were "loyalists", he warmly advocated the rights of his country, but did not live to witness its triumph. He died on May 18, 1776, and his widow died July 7in 1777 at age 56
