  2. ↑ Jacob gave his birth date as August 1861 on the 1900 census. He was 9 on the 1870 census and 18 on the 1880 census. His tombstone also says August 1861. His death record gives his birth date as August 1874 which is obviously wrong. The death record also gave his birth place as Leesville, Vernon Parish. The family was enumerated in Rapides Parish in 1870 and in Vernon in 1880. It is possible that he was born in Rapides and not in Vernon.
