Militia of Philadelphia Co. PA in the 7th Class, 8th Company, 6th Battalion, PVT.2 Pennsylvania Archives Sixth Series Vol. 1 1906 p. 913 & Vol. 111, 1907, Militia Rolls 1783-1790 p. 1339: Soldiers of the American Revolution Philadelphia, PA. including Montgomery Co. 1976 & 77 p. 189 & 916. In 1783 the year of the peace treaty that ended the Revolutionary Was, the muster rolls of the Philadelphia County Militia carried the names of Jacob Hawk, John Hawk, George Hawk & Joseph Hawk, all from Providence Twp., all members of the 8th Company of the Sixth Battalion, (Source Archives of Pennsylvania, Sixth Series, Vol. 3 p. 1338) all of military age and all thought to be the first born generation of Jacob Hauck the immigrant from Holland. Whether any of these saw combat service in the Revolutionary War is not know. |
