Jacob lived in Warren County, Kentucky. He later moved to Barton County, Missouri. He later moved to Dade County, Missouri. He later moved back to Barton County, Missouri. He later moved to California.

Jacob was a member of the Baptist Church.

Jacob moved with his parents to Barton County, Missouri in 1855.

In 1860 Jacob was living with his parents in Newton Township, Barton County, Missouri.

In 1870 Jacob was living with his family in Horsecreek Township, Dade County, Missouri.

In 1880 Jacob was living with his wife in Cedar Township, Dade County, Missouri.

   J. L. Duckett one of the city's most highly respected citizens, last week received word of the death of his brother, J. P. Duckett, at his home at Hanford, California. He died at that place July 9«sup»th«/sup» with typhoid pneumonia fever, having been sick but a short time. He was 62 years old.
   
   Mr. Duckett lived in the neighborhood of Cedarville ever since the war and was known to everyone in that vicinity. About four years ago he moved to Barton County and later about one and a half years ago moved with his family to California. Besides J. L. Duckett of this place, he has two other brothers, A. J. Duckett of Lamar and Dr. Duckett of Milford. Three sisters are also left to mourn his death. He was known to everyone in this neighborhood as an honest, Christian gentleman and the news of his death comes as a shock to his family and host of friends.
