(From "History of Wabash County, Indiana" pub. 1884, pg. 486)
JACOB CRUMRINE, farmer, P.O. Somerset, was born in Darke County, Ohio, December 7, 1835, tue son of John and Catharine Crumrine, natives of Pennsylvania, and of German descent. He was educated in the common school and brought up to farming. He remained at home until of age and came with his parents to Wabash County in 1852, settling near Somerset, and was engaged in the saw mill owned by his father until 1857, when he purchased a place two miles south of his present home.

On March 5, 1857, Mr. Crumvine was united in marriage with Miss Lucinda Jones, born in Ohio in 1838. After marriage, he conducted the place for his father one year, then removed to Grant County, Ind., remaining there one year, after which he returned to Wabash County in 1863, locating upon the premises where he has since resided, then known as the Roland farm and containing 120 acres, which are fully improved with fine farm buildings and also an elegant brick residence, which Mr. Crumrine has erected.

Mr. and Mrs. C. are members of the German Baptist Church, Mr. Crumrine being a minister of the Gospel, and a very successful farmer and business man, as well as being a cultured and genial gentleman.

Mr. and Mrs. Crumrine are the parents of five children, four daughters and one son -- Barbara Allen (now Mrs. Samuel Frantz), Julia Ann, Emma, Ira Orren and Carrie Rosella.

Jacob R. Crumrine, b. 7 Dec. 1835 in Darke Co., O., d. 7 April 1890 m. 5 March 1857, Lucinda Jones, b. 1838 in Ohio Both buried in Vernon cemetery, Wabash Co., Ind. From the "History of the Church of the Brethren in Indiana" published in l9l7, we read that Jacob was elected a deacon in 1866 in the Wabash Country Church of the Brethren.
He was called to the ministry in 1872 and ordained as Elder in 1889. He was a very zealous preacher and took much interest in the early missionary activities of the church. It was while preaching that he caught the cold that caused his death. During the last years of his life, he had become more in demand as a preacher of funerals than any other preacher in all that community. He came with his parents from Darke Co., O.. to Wabash Co., Ind. in 1852. He was a farmer. Information also given in "History of Wabash Co., Ind." by Helms published in 1884.
