In March of 1775, went with a company of thirty men, led by Daniel Boone, and marked a path through the forest to the Kentucky River. They arrived on April 6, 1775 at Big Lick on the Kentucky River just below the mouth of Otter Creek. Here it was decided to build a town called Boonesborough. The men in the expedition were: Daniel Boone, John Kennedy, Squire Boone, John King, Edward Bradley, William Miller, James Bridges, William Moore, William Bush, James Nall, Samual Coburn, James Peeke, Colomel Richard Colloway, Bartlet Seary, Captain Jacob Crabtree, Rouben Seary, Benjamin Cutbirth, Michael Stoner, David Gass, Samuel Tate, John Hart, Oswell Townes, William Hays, Captain William Twitty, William Hicks, John Vanderman, Edmund Jennings, Felix Walker, and Thomas Johnson. Here is Carol Dean Crabtree Peacock, Jacob's 3rd gr-niece indicating Jacob Crabtree's name on the Boonesborough Monunent.

Information on Jacob Crabtree's family found on pages 51 through 58 in the Crabtree Family Book. The family moved to Lee Co., Virginia in early 1800's. Jacob served under Capt. James Crabtree and others. , Squire Boone, John King, Edward Bradley, William Miller, James Bridges, William Moore, William Bush, James Nall, Samual Coburn, James Peeke, Colomel Richard Colloway, Bartlet Seary, Captain Jacob Crabtree, Rouben Seary, Benjamin Cutbirth, Michael Stoner, David Gass, Samuel Tate, John Hart, Oswell Townes, William Hays, Captain William Twitty, William Hicks, John Vanderman, Edmund Jennings, Felix Walker, and Thomas Johnson.

Jacob was a Revolutionary soldier from Virginia; served as a private under Capt. James Crabtree in 1776. He moved to Lee Co., Va in the 1800's; listed in Sumner's Annals, Will Book #1 of 1793-1832 was lost therefore no records available on his Will. Jacob and Mary sold land, July 24, 1818 to Richard Crabtree, Jonesville, Lee Co., Va. At age of 75 Jacob applied for his pension in 1833 in Lee Co., VA; Deed Book 3, #344. At age 75, Jacob applied for his pension in 1833, Lee Co. VA under the Act of 1832. "Serving as a private in the Co. of Capt. Crabtree in the Reg't of Col. Campbell in VA line for 16 months." Placed on the VA Pension Roll at $53.33 per annum. Cert. 12557, issued 9 May 1833 and commenced 4 Mar. 1834. Pension #R2420. Mary applied for a pension June 12, 1849, Lee Co., under the act of June 17, 1844 for the purpose of drawing the balance due Jacob from date of his last draw till time of his death in 1846. She stated Jacob lived in Lee Co., for 44 years prior to his death and previously lived in Russell Co., VA. A register of marriage for the year 1796 Russell Co., VA "Jacob Crabtree and Mary Price, 4 Aug. 1786 by Simon Cockrill." Mary died before the claim was perfected, and on 2 Apr. 1850 Lee Co., VA: Job Crabtree, administrator of Mary Crabtree declared Mary was the widow of Jacob and resided in Lee Co.,. Jacob owned land in both Lee and Russell counties. Jacob shown on the Lee Co. Va. Census for 1830--Age 70-80, wife 70-80, 1 female 30-40, 1 son 5-10.
