BAX, Jacob Cornelis "Jack" of Chatham, passed away at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Public General Campus on Saturday, September 18, 1999. Born in Haarlemmermeer, Holland, 95 years ago, son of the late Jacob Cornelis Bax and Maria Vreugdenhil. Jack owned and operated a grocery store in Holland for twenty years before moving to Canada in 1951. He was an employee of Canada Packers for sixteen years retiring in 1969. Beloved and devoted husband of the late Adriana Verhoog (1996), dear lovong father of Mary Hummelen, Margaret and Albert Herfst all of Chatham, Ruth Bax of Mount Forest, Gertie and Adrian Wielhouwer of Owen Sound, Jean and Peter VanHelden of Chatham, Clarence and Lorraine Bax of Thornhill, Art and Barb Bax of Walterton, Bernard and Tina Bax of Sarnia, Hank and Margriet Bax of Thamesford, Herb and Janette Bax of Thunder Bay and Fred Bax of Toronto; dear grandfather of 37 grandchildren and spouses and 51 great grandchildren; one brother "Joop" Johannes Lambertus of Holland. Predeceased by one son Jim Bax (1994), one daughter Joanne VanderPloeg (1995), four sisters and three brothers. Friends will be received at the Bowman Funeral Home, 4 Victoria Avenue, Chatham (352-2390) on Monday 2-4 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from First Christian Reformed Church, Tweedsmuir Avenue East, Tuesday, September 21, 1999 at 11:00 an with Rev. Paul Stadt officiating. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. In lieu of flower, contributions to the Chatham Christian School or Christian Reformed World Missions would be appreciated.
