The subject of this sketch was married, October 25, 1860, to Miss Mary E. Strickmaker, and to them were born four children, viz., Clara Ann, wife of John Gintz; Caroline Josephine, wife of Joseph Winkler; Emery Henry Gernand, and Lydia Frances (deceased). There being a separation in this marriage, Mr. Ankney was again united in marriage, April 5, 1877, to Miss Mary Gintz, by whom he has had four children — Jacob Christian Francis, Nora Naola, and twins who are deceased. Mr. Ankney and family are members of the German Reformed Church, and he is also a member of the Masonic fraternity. Lodge No. 59.
