"6. Jacob2 (Adams), b. in Newbury, Sept. 13, 1651 [this appears to be a misreading of the records, which say 1654]; … He removed, probably, about 1681-2, to Suffield (now Connecticut), where he was one of the most prominent and influential of the early settlers. He was often chosen to important offices, was a member of the General Court of the colony, then held in Boston, 1711 to 1714, and again in 1717. He d. in Boston, suddenly, in Nov. 1717, while in attendance upon his duties as a member of the General Court from Suffield. He acquired a large property, and was greatly esteemed. His will, dated Nov. 20, 1717, is recorded both in Boston, and at Northampton, which was the county seat of Hampshire county, to which Suffield then belonged."

    The typed transcript says: "Adams, … Jacob, s. Rob[er]t, [born] Apr. 13, 1654. [Apr. 14. S. dup.]

Here is the film of the original copy of vital records: he is listed on the top right on page 85 and it clearly says ""Jacob ye son of Robert Adams was born" but the date is smudged. [It may say "Sept 13 . 54" There may be a character between the 't' and the '1', possibly a superscripted 'r'. jrich.]. Oddly his birth is listed after a July birth and just before a birth in September. Was it added late on the margin? [It appears so to me. jrich.]

The film of the copy of vital records made by Henry Short about 1690 says "Jacob ye son of Robert Adams was born April 14th" [1654]
