Published: Jul 27, 2002 HISER JACK N ------ Jack Newton Hiser died peacefully in his home July 26, 2002. He was bo rn to Claude and Helen (Ostrander) Hiser in Bradner OH, on August 12, 191 8. Jack worked for over 29 years at Teledyne CAE as a facility engine er in research and development, and was especially proud of his work on t he cruise missile engine. He served in the U.S Army in the 341st Engine er Regiment from 1941 to 1945, seeing action throughout the European Theat re and Northern Africa, earning several Service Medals with 5 Bronze Star s. He also served in Alaska, building the Al-Can Highway, and was a life m ember of VFW Post 5530. Along with being a devoted husband and father, Jack was a tireless volunte er, working alongside his wife at American Red Cross blood banks for ov er 25 years (Multiple 5-gallon donor) and supporting the Girl Scouts of Am erica for over 25 years. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an acco mplished mechanic, carpenter, electrician and plumber. In his younger da ys he enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as boxing, and was a voracio us reader throughout his entire life. He will be deeply missed. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lillian F (Jankowski); da ughter, Jacqueline Sue Vallas; son, Michael A Hiser (Velda); grandchildre n, Heather Marie Pryba (Terry) and Vicki Lynn Vallas; sisters, Betty Jo Bo yd (David) and Pat Miesle (Lee); brothers, Robert Hiser (Joanna) and Pa ul Hiser (Dorothy). Family and friends may call at the David R Jasin Funeral Home, 5300 N Summ it, Toledo OH on Monday, July 29, 2002, from 2-8 p.m. A VFW Post 5530 ser vice will be held at 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice or Hospice of Nor thwest OH. |
