June 14, 1969 J.D. Jenkins Rites in Rising Star J.D. Jenkins, 57, of Rising Star, died at 10:40 p.m. Fridayin Eastland Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Rising Star, with the Rev. Don Timberlake, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery under direction of Higginbotham Funeral Home with Art Fisher, Durwood Fussell, Otis Lee, Pete Starks, Kenneth Willett and Don Calaway serving as pallbearers. Mr. Jenkins was born Dec. 3, 1911, in Sipe Springs and married Gracie Mearle Feb. 12, 1931, in Comanche. He was a retired heavy maintenance truck driver. Survivors include his wife; one son, Billie Jack Jenkins of Odessa; three daughters, Mrs. Lajuan Killian of Rising Star, Mrs. Shirley Mitchell of Abilene, and Mrs. Betty Callaway of Nuremburg, Germany. Two brothers, W.N. of Rising Star and Truman of Odessa; four sisters, Mrs. Viola Phillips of Rising Star, Mrs. Christinne Howe of Fort Worth, Mrs. Johnny Pearl Warren of Euless and Mrs. Mildred Fellers of Russell.--------and 10 grandchildren.
