Ivan Lee Jons 80 of Seneca, Mo. passed away at 3;15 p.m. on Saturday June 18, 2011 at his home.
Born December 6, 1930 in Branson Colo. he was the son of the late Richard Henry Jones and Pearl Wilson Jones, and had lived in the Joplin area since 1952, moving from South Dakota where he worked in a brick factory. Ivan grew up on his family's homestead in Southeast Colorado, attended Trinidad Colo. schools and began workin at a grocery store there at the age of 14. He later received an Associate's Degree from N.E.O. A&M College at Miami Okla. He began his employmemt with Sperry Vickrs Ic. theyear it opened its facility in Joplin and retired from Vcker's in 1986. He also worked ten years for Rocketdyne in Neosho, Mo. He was a very active member of Betchel Baptist Church in Seneca.
On May 18, 1948 he married Florence K. Davis in New Mexico. She srvives.
Additonal survivors include a daughter, Diana Luehring and husband Michael of Palm Springs, Calif. a son Larry Jones and wife Jana of Frontenac, Kan. a gradson, Don Alexader of Joplin, a great granddaugter, Andrea Alexander of Joplin, a great great granddaughter, Renesemee Alexader of Joplin, many nieces and nephews.
Ivan was preceded in death by twins Ricky and Vicky in 1952, and by three brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on Wednesday June 22, at 11a.m. after which, the family will rceive friends. A private interment will be at Hornet Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction o Parker Mortuar.
