Halifax Co, NC Deed Bk 22, P. 380: 20 Aug 1812, Iles Cooper of Halifax NC to John Broom all the land that Iles "now lives on" adjoining Willie Daniels, James Lock, Samuel Simmons & others, 114 ac. referring to deed from authur Sheffield to said Cooper 1 Nov 1788 for 100 ac and grant from the state for 14 ac dated 13 Dec 1788. proven 1814.

Research indicates that Isles was of Scotch-Irish origin and raised his family in Halifax Co. NC. One of the Coopers moved to Benton Co. TNin about 1800. LDS lists children: Temperance, Ira, Abner Edwards, Isles Edwards, Eliza Angeline, Frances, Elizabeth and Joseph John. Is Thomas Daniel Cooper a son?
