About Isidore Joseph

Isidore Joseph was born 21 December 1897 in Germany, son of August Israel Joseph (1863-1940) and his wife Amalie Rosenthal (1864-1941). He was the second husband of Laure Lippmann (1900-1986), daughter of Henri Lippmann of Moselle, France and his wife, Dorothy. Isidore helped raise Laure's two sons, Alex and Marcel, from her marriage with Moritz Baum who had died in 1925. He was remembered by his step-son, Marcel Baum [in his memoirs] as a wonderful, kind man that loved and raised the two brothers as his own.

Isidore survived the horrors of the Holocaust and came to America after World War with his wife, her two sons and their daughter Alice Renate Joseph after World War II. Isidore passed away in March 1971 in Waukegan, Lake County, Illinois.
