    - note that other sources have Isaiah Pemberton as being born closer to 1730 and the place of his birth could NOT have been Frederick County, Virginia as that County was not even formed until 1738. The Find-A-Grave contributor has been contacted and has been asked to revise this Find-A-Grave Memorial.

In 1771 Isaiah Pemberton sold his 542 acres of land in Frederick County, Viriginia, to neighbor Samuel Washington (brother of George Washington). With the money he moved his family to Newberry County, South Carolina.

According to Eli Jay in 'Centennial Anniversary of West Branch Meeting of Friends, 1907, the first documentation of Isaiah being a Friends member was in Bush River MM, South Carolina, in 1774. However, this researcher believes that Isaiah joined Society of Friends (Quaker faith) about 1760 in Frederick County, Virginia. However the Hopewell MM records do not survive. In any case Isaiah and his family followed his good friend Benjamin Pearson when he decided to migrate. In 1771 Isaiah and his brother George sold their land in Virginia to a close neighbor, Samuel Washington, brother to Gen. George Washington. Three years later Isaiah and his family used the money to move to Bush River, Newberry, South Carolina.

As a Quaker Isaiah Pemberton did not fight in the American Revolution. However, it is documented that he did provide provisions to help the American cause. "Pursuant toe the Act of the General Assembly passed the fifth of March, 1783, we, the Commissioners have this Day delivered to Mr. Isaiah Pemberton this indented certificate for the Sum of One Hundred one pounds, Nineteen Schillings and two pence...on the 20th of July, 1788. " As shown in the record Isaiah provided supplies and forage for Revolutionary soldiers and their horses on several occasions in the last years of the war.

His gravestone is missing. Isaiah Pemberton I did not leave a will.
